Question:
Are British casinos allowed to advertise on television, radio, the internet etc…?
Answer :
Yes, but a lot of restrictions are placed on such advertisements. Any UK-licensed gambling operator who wants to advertise their products needs to comply with the relevant advertising codes of practice. There are different codes of practice for different media. Typically the codes require that the advert does not glamorise gambling or may it appear to be an easy way to get rich quick. Advertisers must also not feature children in the ads, or anyone who appears to be under the age of 25. In addition, the adverts must not suggest that gambling makes you more attractive to the opposite sex.
The advertising rules are a requirement of the Commission’s ordinary code of practice provision for gambling operators, so operators could lose their license if they fail to advertise within the guidelines.
