Gambling Systems : D’Alembert System

The D’Alembert System is a progressive betting system similar to the Martingale system.

Increase your bet stake by one unit until you win, and decrease it by one unit after you win. For example, you stake £1 on red, then £2 on red, then £3 on red whether you win or lose. You keep increasing the stake in this way until you lose. Then you drop back down one unit. If you lose again you drop down another unit and so on until you are back to £1. The great advantage of this system is that the escalation of the stake is much reduced compared to the Martingale system, and so you are less likely to go broke before you start to win. Once you do start winning you stake less, and thus mitigate against the chance of going broke.
