Casino Poker - Three Card Poker & Caribbean Stud Poker
If Poker is your game, then you are frankly far better off playing in a proper card room, against other players, rather than playing the "poker themed" games on offer in the casino. There is a high house edge in Casino Poker - much higher than the house edge in other popular games such as Blackjack, Baccarat or Roulette. When you play poker against other players the house has no interest in whether you win or lose, because they make their money by skimming off a small percentage of the pot (called "the rake"). If you learn what starting hands to play and have the discipline to only play those hands then you can easily beat most other poker players who play online - particularly at the lower stakes. So not only is poker played against other players more fun - it is also much, much more profitable! For full details of how to play poker well, and which poker rooms offer a reputable room with low rake, visit our sister site www.goldenruleofpoker.com. There are tons of articles and reviews there which will help you on your way to becoming the next World Series Of Poker champion. If you are only interested in poker as a fun diversion while you play other casino games, here are some tips that will help you make your money go further when playing casino poker.
Three Card Poker
A popular game offered by many casinos. It is easy to learn and if you play with an optimum strategy you can at least lower the high house edge. The odds are least in your favour when you take the option to just be dealt three cards and be paid out on whether you make a pair, flush etc... so always play a version where you can choose to play or fold. Then, either make your stand or throw your cards away. If your three cards are Queen / 6 / 4 or higher, then always raise. If your three cards are lower than this then cut your losses and fold - the odds are too low that you can go on to win.
Caribbean Stud Poker
Another popular version of casino poker - and again it is largely a matter of deciding when to play and when to fold. To give yourself the best chance of winning, you should raise with any pair or better. You should also raise if you hold Ace King and any of your cards pairs with the upturned card of the dealer. Otherwise, if you don't hold at least a pair, cut your losses and fold. This strategy means you will have to fold quite a few hands, so it does require patience. Just remember you are folding to preserve your chips for when better cards come your way.
